Hue international sculpture symposium attracts 29 local, foreign artists
VOV.VN - The 2026 Hue International Sculpture Symposium opened at a park along the Huong River on November 5, attracting 29 artists from seven countries to create works inspired by the former imperial capital's people, culture and heritage.
The event features 19 Vietnamese artists and 10 international participants from France, Spain, Egypt, Iran, Thailand and Laos, who will present 29 sculptures.
The sixth edition, held as part of the Hue Festival, provides a platform for artists from Vietnam and abroad to exchange ideas and explore new creative approaches.
In his opening remarks, Hoang Viet Trung, director of the Hue Monuments Conservation Centre and deputy head of the Hue Festival 2026 Organising Committee, said that the participating works have undergone several rounds of selection and evaluation by a professional panel, from initial sketches to scale models at a ratio of 1:10.
Through their artistic perspectives, the sculptors are bringing fresh interpretations of Hue’s people, culture and landscape, enriching the city’s contemporary art scene, he added.
Beyond producing works of artistic value, the symposium aims to foster cultural understanding and create opportunities for long-term cooperation among Vietnamese and international artists. The sculptures are also expected to enhance public spaces, promote the heritage values of the former imperial capital and bring contemporary art closer to residents and visitors.
The international sculpture symposium will last through to November 15.
