Hollywood film crew chooses Cat Ba as setting for new film project
VOV.VN - A Hollywood film crew has chosen Cat Ba Archipelago in Vietnam’s northern Hai Phong city as the setting for their new film project after scouting locations in Japan, the Republic of Korea, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Riot Games, Inc. an American video game developer, publisher, and esports tournament organiser based in Los Angeles, made the announcement during a working session with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on March 10.
Addressing the event, Rose Lam, global production director of Riot Studios, briefed delegates on the results of the film crew’s results, and expressed hope that the film crew would receive active support from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as well as local authorities, in carrying out their work.
Meanwhile, Nicholas Simon, CEO and producer of Indochina Productions, hoped to have further discussions in the near future regarding Vietnam’s legal regulations and specific aspects of the project. He emphasized that filming and premiering the movie in Hai Phong would be a fantastic opportunity to showcase Vietnam.
According to Simon, Vietnam remains a top priority for international travelers and film crews. Given the large and dedicated audience of Riot Games, shooting a film in Vietnam would certainly create a positive impact on both countries.
Within a short time, the film crew conducted thorough research in Vietnam, assessed the suitability of various locations, and ultimately selected Cat Ba after comparing it to other destinations they had scouted, he said.
During a working session, the film crew presented their ideas and production plans for filming in Cat Ba, and both sides engaged in direct and detailed discussions.
For his part, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hung Nguyen Van Hung affirmed that the Ministry is ready co-operate with US partners as it works to develop cinema and tourism.
He noted that the Ministry and local authorities would propose to relevant agencies to create favourable conditions for the film crew, including visa granting, during their stay in Vietnam.
