Hoang Phuong named in top three Asian actresses at Houston Film Fest
VOV.VN - Hoang Phuong has been listed among the three best actresses in Asia at the 54th iteration of the annual WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival.
Phuong is notable for staring in “Invisible Love”, also known as “Tinh yeu vo hinh”.
The movie tells a story about a beautiful and strong-willed Vietnamese nurse named Nguyen Thi Hoa, starring by Phuong, in the 1930s who faces various ups, downs, and sorrows. In addition, it is the first film that the young actress has ever played the lead role in.
The Houston International Film Festival represents the third oldest film festival in North America after it was launched in 1961 to follow on from similar events in New York and San Francisco.
This year's event features over 1,000 movies from 74 countries and territories worldwide.
Phuong’s honour comes off the back of her winning the best actress award at the 2021 Paris International Film Festival.
The “Invisible Love” movie, co-directed by Xiang Guo of China and Nguyen Minh Phuong, with Bill Einreinhofer as executive producer, also won "Best Narrative Feature Film" and "Best International Collaboration" at 2021 Paris International Film Festival. In addition, it claimed the Award of Excellence for its art direction, along with the Award of Merit (Asian Film Feature) at Indie Fest in the United States.
The movie was also nominated at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival. However, the event was delayed due to the COVID-19 impact.
Born in 1996, Hoang Phuong has appeared in some TV shows and a joint Vietnamese-Japanese production of "Along the Sea". This is one of her most significant films to date as it won an award for Best Film dealing with Human Trafficking Issues at the 2020 Cairo International Film Festival.
