Ho Chi Minh City set to host first Mexican gastronomic week

VOV.VN - The first-ever gastronomic week of Mexico is scheduled to take place from September 15 to September 22 in Ho Chi Minh City to mark the 213th anniversary of Mexican Independence Day.

The event is expected to draw the participation of several restaurants based in Ho Chi Minh City which feature the diversity of Mexican cuisine, including District Federal, Agave Saigon, Xolo Tequila Bar, Tacos Fuego, Gringo Tacos y Cantina, and Tippy's Mexican Food.

The week provides an opportunity for visitors to savor the authentic taste of Mexican food, as well as learning about its rich cultural heritage.

Diners will be able to enjoy sampling traditional Mexican atmosphere, whilst tasting Mexican dishes prepared by expert chefs. Traditional Mexican cuisine is a comprehensive cultural model comprising farming, ritual practices, age-old skills, culinary techniques, as well as ancestral community customs and manners, according to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) documents.

In 2010, the UNESCO included Mexican cuisine on their Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Mexico’s traditional cuisine is the first ethnic cuisine in the world to be honoured with the UNESCO title.
