Ho Chi Minh City Orchid Festival returns with vibrant theme and international flair
VOV.VN - The 3rd Ho Chi Minh City Orchid Festival, themed “The Colorful Train Journey”, will take place from May 16 to 20 at Tao Dan Park in Ho Chi Minh City, aiming to honor the beauty of orchids while promoting cultural exchange, tourism, and urban agriculture.
According to the city’s Department of Industry and Trade, preparations for this year’s festival are being finalized with urgency, aiming to deliver a vibrant cultural and agricultural event which is expected to draw large crowds of visitors.
This year’s festival is anticipated to attract about 200 artisans and gardeners from cooperatives nationwide, showcasing over 39,000 orchid products, surpassing previous editions. In addition, several international artisans from the United Kingdom and other countries will participate, adding a global touch and enhancing international exchange in ornamental horticulture.
The exhibition space is uniquely designed around the theme “The Colorful Train Journey”, inspired by the symbolic reunification trains that departed simultaneously from Hanoi and Saigon on December 31, 1976, embodying aspirations for peace, reconciliation, and national unity.

Blending imagery of the historic North–South train and modern metro lines, the festival will lead visitors through six themed “flower stations,” offering an immersive experience. Beyond orchid displays, the event also features a convergence of culture, arts, and cuisine. Key activities include exhibitions of handicrafts and agricultural specialties, folk art performances, traditional games, artist interactions, and a culinary program featuring renowned chefs and food experts.
Held biennially, the festival demonstrates Ho Chi Minh City’s ongoing efforts to integrate urban agriculture with cultural and tourism development, opening new opportunities for sustainable and green economic growth with strong local identity.
