Ho Chi Minh City hosts Vietnam-Indonesia exchange art exhibition

VOV.VN - A Vietnam-Indonesia exchange art exhibition opened at the headquarters of the Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts Association on August 7, to strengthen friendship and to promote art exchanges between artists of the two countries.

The exhibition brings together a total of 60 pieces of artwork created by 17 Vietnamese and 11 Indonesian artists.

According to the organisers, both Vietnamese and Indonesian artists of the same generation are keen to showcase their various styles and concepts, as well as the similarities and differences between two countries' cultures and arts through the exhibition.

As both Vietnam and Indonesia are located in Southeast Asia, the two countries have strong developed their own forms of modern and contemporary art. While Vietnam is particularly strong in silk, lacquer, oil paintings, and ceramics, Indonesia is famous for Batik which is the art of decorating cloth, as well as abstract paintings.

The exhibition, which runs until August 13, is expected to lay the foundation for the future development and exchange of fine arts between the two sides.
