VOV.VN -A “Banh Mi” inspired outfit worn by the Vietnamese representative H'Hen Nie has been listed among the top 4 spectacular National Costumes at the ongoing Miss Universe 2018 beauty pageant.
The other spectacular national costumes to make the list are The Golden Queen of Miss Mongolia, Tanaka of Miss Myanmar, and Blue Crane of Miss South Africa.

Accordingly, “Banh Mi”, or Vietnamese Bread, is the most popular fast food among locals and tourists in Vietnam. “Banh Mi is very delicious, it represents good value for money so everyone from the poor to the rich can afford it”, says the website.

On mentioning the design of Miss Mongolia, the website stated that the design idea had been taken from the Mongolian Queens’ clothing during the Middle Ages in the era of Genghis Khan and his successors. This golden yellow costume reflects the traditional sewing techniques, the fine art work of Mongolian goldsmiths and the famous poem “My Native Land”.
The concept behind Myanmar’s National Costume is taken from the nation’s most famous skincare product, “Tanaka”, a yellowish-white cosmetic paste made from ground bark. The costume vividly demonstrates how to make the Tanaka cream.

Writing about the National Costume from the South African representative, the Miss Universe fan page noted that the concept is based on a Blue Crane, the national bird of South Africa. It’s made up of over 2,000 feathers, hand-printed and beaded with orange crystals.
