Hello Vietnam Festival 2023 slated for mid-August
VOV.VN - Hello Vietnam (Namaste Vietnam) Festival, the second of its kind, will take place in mid-August to mark the 76th anniversary of Indian Independence Day (August 15, 1947), and the 51st anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Vietnam (January 7, 1972).
At a press conference on August 9, Madan Mohan Sethi, consul general of India in Ho Chi Minh City, revealed that this year’s festival would draw the participation of two Indian classical dance troupes - Qawwali and Kuchipudi.
Kuchipudi represents a classical Indian dance style that originated in the state of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Qawwali is a kind of popular music that comes from the Middle East region.
Furthermore, 20 leading Indian directors and actors such as Anupam Kher, Alisha Chinoi, Yuvika Chaudhary, and Hansal Mehta are also set to participate in the festival, he shared.
The second Namaste Vietnam Festival will thereby provide a chance for the two countries to gain a greater understanding about each other, said Sethi.
The diplomat expressed hope that the event would have plenty of positive impacts on Vietnam-India relations, such as a cooperation to establish Bollywood film studios in Da Lat and Nha Trang, tourism promotion activities, as well as cultural exchanges to connect the two sides through various art forms.
The festival was first jointly held in 2022 by the Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City, the HCM City Union of Friendship Organization (HUFO), and the Vietnam-India Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh City.
The second Hello Vietnam Festival 2023 will be held in the southern metropolis from August 12 to 15, Da Lat city on August 16, and Tuy Hoa city on August 17.
