HCM City to launch first Book Day
(VOV) -A wide range of activities are scheduled for the first Book Day in Ho Chi Minh City on April 20-21.
At a press briefing on April 12, Municipal Department of Information and Communications Head Le Thai Hy, said the event will introduce a large number of new books to readers.
Various conferences on reading culture, habits, skills and content will also take place during both days.
An exhibition of Vietnamese maps and the country’s borders will be on show as well a display of rare, unique and electronic books to help visitors learn more about the abundant production of the publishing industry during the country’s resistance wars.
Young readers can also take part in creative contests for designing and illustrating books and making bookmarks.
Visitors to the event will be encouraged to donate books to the organizing board, which will send them to people living in the remote areas across the country.
