HCM City to host piano competition open to contestants of all nationalities

VOV.VN - The Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music has launched a piano competition for contestants of all nationalities and different ages, with the ultimate aim of becoming a destination for pianists from across the world.

Contestants will be able to compete in both professional and non-professional groups. Of which, the non-professional group will be specifically for candidates of all nationalities who are not learning a piano major from professional music institutions such as the Conservatory of Music, Music Academies, Culture and Arts Colleges, or Universities with piano majors.

All repertoires are strictly limited to classical music and mustn’t include styles such as Jazz, Blue, Broadway, Semi-Classical, or Pop Music.

Furthermore, they must all be played from memory without sheet music.

The pieces cannot be identical in different rounds, except works of tables B, C, and D of the non-professional group and can be repeated from round 1 to round 2. The duration of each piece must be written down in the registration form.

Judges will include prestige pianists, lecturers, and professors from both Vietnam and other countries.

The competition is scheduled to take place at the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music from July 6 to July 9.
