HCM City International Film Festival introduced at BIFF 2023
VOV.VN - The Ho Chi Minh City International Film Festival (HIFF) 2024 was presented at Vietnam Night held as part of the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) 2023 in the Republic of Korea (RoK) on October 9.
The Vietnam Night sees the participation of more than 600 international delegates, including directors of international film festivals, filmmakers, directors, film production, and distribution companies worldwide.
Upon addressing the event, Nguyen Tan Kiet, head of the Division of Arts under the HCM City Department of Culture and Sports, said that the introduction of the HIFF during Vietnam Night is an important step in showcasing the Vietnamese movie industry to the world and building further cultural exchanges among different countries.
The HIFF’s organisation board also invited Mr. Kim Dong-ho, the founder and former chairman of the Busan International Film Festival, to serve as honorary chairman of the HIFF 2024.
The debut version of the HIFF is scheduled to take place from April 6 to April 13 next year, with the event drawing the participation of hundreds of filmmakers, actors, and actresses from across the world.
The highlight of the occasion will be an exhibition on the film industry, workshops on the Vietnamese and global film industries, along with short training courses.
Furthermore, local movie fans will be able to enjoy the best and latest movies, whilst also having the chance to meet their favourite celebrities. The cine show, a series of music and fashion shows, is expected to provide unique experiences to visitors, as well as honouring both the Vietnamese and global film industries.
