HCM City hosts Int’l Anthropological Film Fest

(VOV) -Fifty-five films examining important cultural and social elements of a diverse variety of people are being shown at the International Anthropological Film Festival in Ho Chi Minh City from November 10-14.

The festival’s selections were carefully sorted out from more than 70 films by directors representing the US, Germany, the UK, Australia, Japan, China, Italy, Iran, Switzerland, Spain, Portugal, and host Vietnam.

Modern anthropological films often feature social issues—such as immigration, homosexuality, poverty, and cultural change—but are still primarily concerned with documenting aspects of contemporary society.

The festival will also include presentations on the different methods of, and opinions about, making anthropological films.

According to event organisers, the Vietnam Institute of Culture and Arts Studies (VICAS), and the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the festival will now be held every two years in the city.
