Doan Tuan Linh, vice director of the municipal Department of Foreign Affairs, said this first important cultural event will be co-organized by HCM City and Gyeongsangbuk-do province.
Organizers hope that the festival will broaden cultural exchange between the two countries and help international friends gain a better understanding about Vietnam – a developing, dynamic, and hospitable country.
The event will contribute to reinforcing the strategic partnership between Vietnam and the ROK, and cooperation ties between HCM City and Korean provinces and cities, they said.
Kim Jang Joo, deputy governor of Gyeongsangbuk province, said this is an emblematic festival of the ROK, and was first held in 1998.
He highlighted the fact that Vietnam and the ROK share many cultural and historical similarities, adding that he hopes the event will promote the strategic partnership between the two countries.
According to organizers, the festival will take place at several places including Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street, Hoa Binh Theatre, the Fine Arts Museum, and the Conservatory of Ho Chi Minh City.
The opening ceremony is set to transpire on November 11 at Nguyen Hue Street, with more than 1,200 guests from 15 countries around the world and the closing ceremony will be held at Hoa Binh Theatre on December 3.
The festival will also feature displays of the culture, arts, traditional products, and tourism destinations of the two localities, alongside Taekwondo and Vovinam performances, and an exhibition on HCM City products exported to the ROK.
