HBSO to stage Christmas concert
HBSO Opera and Symphony Orchestra will run its latest Christmas concert at the HCMC Opera House at 8 p.m. on December 18.
The upcoming concert, which is under the baton of young talented conductor Tran Nhat Minh, will feature some popular excerpts “For unto us the child is born” and “Hallelujah” from “Messiah” by Handel, performed by the choir. The emotional Ave Maria from Mascagni will be presented by soprano Pham Duyen Huyen. Joyful excerpt Grosser Herr from oratorio “Christmas” from the composer Bach will be performed by baritone Dao Mac.
Pham Khanh Ngoc, one of the best sopranos in Vietnam with national and international awards, will also take part in the program with Maria Wiegenlied from the 20th century composer Max Reger. Ngoc will then has a chance to show her wonderful vocal techniques through excerpt “Let the bright seraphim” from the well-known oratorio Samson by composer Handel.
Choral excerpt “Tollite Hostias” from oratorio “Christmas” (The Oratorio de Noël) from French composer Camille Saint-Saëns, promised to fill the Opera House with love.
The concert also presents other special works, Winter from Four Seasons by Vivaldi, Silent Night, The Bells of Christmas, Christmas at the Movies, Christmas Rocks at the Pops, and “The Star of Bethlehem” from the movie Home Alone.
