Hanoi to set off lunar New Year fireworks at one location

VOV.VN - The Prime Minister has permitted Hanoi capital to set off fireworks to welcome in the lunar New Year 2021 at just one location as opposed to 30 as previously scheduled due to the emergence of the coronavirus.

Revelers will not be able to ring in the lunar New Year in the usual way because of the fresh coronavirus outbreak in Vietnam. Instead they will stay at home and watch the high altitude firework display which is scheduled to be live broadcast on Vietnam Television.

The Hanoi municipal administration said it has worked out a plan for organizing the firework display in one location amidst tight epidemic preventive measures.

The Capital Military Command and relevant agencies have been assigned to ensure safety and security for the location and adjacent areas in the context of the coronavirus evolving in a complex manner.
