Hanoi to host first-ever autumn festival

VOV.VN - The debut version of the Hanoi autumn festival is set to get underway from September 29 to October 1 in areas surrounding Hoan Kiem (Returned Sword) Lake, as well as some other districts throughout the capital.

The first-ever event will run with the theme of “Thu Hà Nội - Đến để yêu” (Come to fall in love) with the aim of honouring heritage sites and landscapes, promoting cultural values and tourism products of the capital, as well as attracting more tourists.

A wide range of activities will therefore take place as part of the function, including a lion dance performance in Thanh Oai district, a kite festival in Dong Anh district, a mid-autumn lantern parade in Son Tay town, flower arrangements in Me Linh district, a puppetry performance in My Duc district, and a lotus tea making festival in Tay Ho district.

Along with tourism products, typical handicrafts and souvenirs of the capital will be introduced across 150 booths situated in Dinh Tien Hoang street and areas surrounding Hoan Kiem (Returned Sword) Lake.

A conference on the development of meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) and golf tourism, an event to re-enact weddings from a bygone era, a photo exhibition on Hanoi in autumn, and an Ao Dai (traditional long dress) show will be held during the course of the festival.

The festival's highlight will be a carnival featuring the participation of thousands of people on October 1 at a pedestrian zone set up around Hoan Kiem Lake.
