Hanoi to host ethnic culture programme celebrating Tet holiday
VOV.VN - The Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism on the outskirts of Hanoi will showcase the cultural diversity of its ethnic communities during a three-day programme titled “Spring Colours in All Regions of the Country”, set to take place from February 27 to March 1.
The event is held to mark Tet, Vietnam’s Lunar New Year festival, and aims to highlight traditional customs, music and crafts of the country’s 54 ethnic groups, while creating a festive spring atmosphere for visitors.
Nearly 300 participants from 32 ethnic communities across 15 provinces and cities are expected to take part, alongside more than 100 representatives from 16 ethnic groups who regularly live and work at the cultural village. Around 30 village elders from ethnic minority communities have also been invited.
A highlight of the programme will be a music and arts performance on February 28, featuring traditional songs and dances by ethnic groups from northern, central and southern Vietnam. The performance will recreate spring celebrations from across the country, including gong and drum performances from the Central Highlands.
Throughout the three-day event, visitors will be able to take part in folk games, observe traditional craft demonstrations, and visit photo exhibitions depicting springtime life in different regions of Vietnam.
Special cultural spaces will also be set up to introduce Tet customs and rituals of the Khmer and Cao Lan ethnic groups, offering insight into how Lunar New Year is celebrated by different communities across the country.
The Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism, located in former Son Tay town, serves as a hub for preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of Vietnam’s ethnic minorities and is a popular destination during major festivals such as Tet.
