Hanoi to host Ao Dai festival
VOV.VN - The Ao Dai (traditional long dress) Festival 2016 themed “The Quintessence of Vietnamese Ao Dai” is scheduled to take place at Thang Long Imperial Citadel in Hanoi with a wide range of activities on October 14-16.

During the three day event, Hanoians and foreign and domestic visitors have a chance to join different events and experience Ao Dai designing and making processes. |

The festival displays collections of unique Aodai from the past to present, along with the materials and ancient looms of Van Phuc and Hoi An silk villages and weaving skills of H’Mong ethnic minority in Ha Giang. |

The opening ceremony takes place at 8.15pm on October 14 at Doan Mon Square of Thang Long Imperial Citadel. |

A children’s drawing contest on Ao Dai is held from 9am to 12am on October 15. |

Top three Masterchef Vietnam 2016 Doan Thi Thu Thuy will teach cooking skills on October 15-16. |

Ao Dai performance is broadcast live on HTV1 on October 15 in Doan Mon Square. |

A seminar taking place on October 16 discusses measures to preserve and promote traditional Ao Dai in tourism development. |

Ao Dai parades are held on Hoang Dieu and Thanh Nien streets on October 16. |

Guests to the event also have a chance to take part in traditional games and contemplate skills of Ao Dai makers. |

The festival is also expected to introduce the cultural heritage of Vietnam’s 1,000-year-old capital to domestic and international visitors via its platform and various activities. |
