Hanoi Creative Design Festival 2026 to run year-round, building a creative ecosystem
VOV.VN - The biennial Hanoi Creative Design Festival, with major events typically in November, will run from January to November in 2026, shifting from a traditional festival model to a dynamic urban creative ecosystem.
The Hanoi People’s Committee, in collaboration with the Vietnam Association of Architects, the Department of Culture and Sports, and Architecture Magazine, officially announced Hanoi Creative Design Festival 2026 and launched the Hanoi Creative Spaces Network at the Hanoi Children’s Palace on December 10.
Since 2019, when Hanoi was recognized as a UNESCO Creative City in the field of design, the city has continuously implemented innovation programs, leveraging the creative economy as a driver for sustainable development.
Under the new approach, the 2026 festival will emphasize building an urban creative ecosystem rather than a single annual event. It will create interdisciplinary experimental spaces integrating design, technology, architecture, visual arts, performance, data, and craftsmanship, offering multi-sensory experiences and broad international connections.
At the announcement, Vice Chairwoman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Vu Thu Ha highlighted that the 2026 festival will run throughout the year with a view to promoting creative projects with high practical and commercial value, enhancing residents’ quality of life. She emphasized that creative design encompasses not only art and product design but also urban design, public spaces, social welfare, and solutions to urban challenges.
Jonathan Wallace Baker, UNESCO Representative to Vietnam, praised the new approach as saying that shifting from a festival model to a creative ecosystem will open sustainable opportunities for artists, designers, creative enterprises, and communities.
UNESCO confirmed its continued support for Hanoi’s journey toward becoming a dynamic creative city in the region, he added.
The Hanoi Creative Design Festival 2026 will officially kick off with the Creative Convergence event in early January at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square and surrounding areas of Hoan Kiem Lake.
