Haiphong hosts huge boxing event
(VOV) - The National Boxing Championships 2013 opened in Haiphong city on August 20 with the participation of 215 boxers from cities and provinces across the country.
The week-long tournament aims to select the best athletes for the national boxing team in preparation for the 27th SEA Games in Myanmar later this year.
It is also one of the sporting events selected to celebrate the National Tourism Year of the Red River Delta-Haiphong 2013.
At the 26th SEA Games in Indonesia in 2011, Vietnamese boxers snatched one gold and five silver medals.
