Ha Giang to hold 2nd annual Mong Ethnic Cultural Festival
The second Mong (H’mong) Ethnic Cultural Festival will be held in Dong Van District in the northern province of Ha Giang in early October.
The event themed “Preserving and promoting cultural identity of Mong People in the country’s renewal, integration and development period” will have activities related to the ethnic Mong such as a pan-pipe festival, a traditional costume display, folk song performances, cuisine, and native products.
Seventeen provinces nationwide with a large number of Mong people will also participate in the festival.
Vietnam has about 800,000 Mong people, one of the country’s ethnic minorities with a large population. Most Mong people live in mountainous areas at a height of 700 metres to 1,500 metres above sea level in the north, north-central and Central Highlands regions.
