Gymnast Ha Thanh enters World Championship finals
(VOV) - Vietnamese gymnast Phan Thi Ha Thanh’s 14.966 point average has placed her fourth in the women’s single vault at the World Championships in Antwerp, Belgium, earning a ticket to the tournament’s October 5 final round.
She scored 14.866 with her first jump (with a difficulty level of 5.8 and technical point of 9.066), putting her in 8th.
Thanh and her coach decided to attempt a difficulty of 6.2 for her second vault, and the success earned her a total of 15.066 points.
Thanh’s 14.966 point average places her behind the US’s McKayla Maroney and Simone Biles and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea’s Hong Un Jong.
Thanh won the single vault championship at the 2013 World Cup in Doha with a 14.825 point average.
She also won a bronze medal at the 2011 World Championships.
