GVFA gifts historical films to national archives

(VOV) - The Germany-Vietnam Friendship Association (GVFA) on November 18 donated more than 200 historically significant documentary and feature films to the Vietnam Film Institute.

At the presentation ceremony, Professor Gunter Giesenfeld, GVFA president, said the films, which were screened in the 60s and 70s, are invaluable as they preserve a never to be forgotten slice of life from the past war, anti-war movements and post war periods.

“The association has for the past four decades collected and broadcast the treasured mementos on both German and international television stations around the globe,” said Professor Giesenfeld.

Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Khanh Hai in turn graciously thanked Professor Giesenfeld, saying “the gift is very significant for the national archives and posterity.”

“It also clearly evidences the close ties between Vietnam and Germany.”
