German director to unveil latest film in Vietnam
As a special guest of the 7th German Film Festival in Vietnam from September 8 to 25, director Norbert Lechner will present his film “Fortune Favors the Brave” in Hanoi and HCMC, together with popular Vietnamese actors who worked on this film in Germany.

Film screenings and audiences’ discussions will take place on September 9 at the National Cinema Center at 87 Lang Ha Street in Hanoi and on September 9 at CineStar Cinema at 271 Nguyen Trai Street in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City.
The director, screenwriter and film producer has a focus on children’s and youth films. In “Fortune Favors the Brave” the child actors with Vietnamese roots, Lynn Dortschack and Linda Phuong Anh Dang, perform alongside Vietnam’s popular actors Chieu Xuan, Manh Cuong and Dinh Y Nhung.
After the screenings, Lechner will conduct a workshop for local budding moviemakers at Hoa Sen University at 8 Nguyen Van Trang Street in District 1, HCMC on September 12 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
During the event, participants will have a chance to learn about the making process of his latest work “Fortune Favors the Brave,” from the script writing to idea developing with his crew and actors’ casting and sketching for the movie.

Norbert Lechner, born in 1961 in Munich, founded the film production company “Kevin Lee” in 1990 while he was still studying German, philosophy and art history and realized his first feature-length movie with the relationship drama “Wounded Faces” (1991).
His children’s films “Toni Goldwascher” (2007) and “Tom und Hacke” (2012) have won several awards.

The 7th German Film Festival will have screenings of eight newest and most successful German movies from September 8 to 25 in Hanoi, Haiphong, Danang, Hue and HCMC.
Audiences are expected to enjoy films of varied genres, including drama, thriller, comedy and children, which were made by renowned directors to deal with the great issues of human coexistence, love and pain, courage and fear, happiness and loss.
