French author, playwright Eric-Emmanuel visits Hanoi
VOV.VN - Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt – a contemporary French and Belgian dramatist, novelist, fiction writer and film director whose plays have won several Molières and the French Academy’s grand prix du Théâtre – is on his way to Hanoi.
He began his career as a scriptwriter for the stage with his debut work La Nuit de Valognes but it was with his second play, Le Visiteur, that in 1993 won him world acclaim and for which he won Molière prizes for best author and best show.
Eric Emmanuel Schmitt also wrote several highly successful novels including The Sect of Egoists (1995), When I was a work of art (2002) and Ulysses from Bagdad (2008).
His books have been translated into 43 languages and his plays have been staged in more than 50 countries worldwide.
Several of his works have been translated into Vietnamese by Nha Nam Publishing house. They include Oscar and the Lady in Pink (Oscar và Bà Áo Hồng) and Concerto to the Memory of an Angel (Bản Concerto Tưởng nhớ Một Thiên thần). The latter won him the Goncourt Prize in 2010.
