Free Vietnamese film screenings to celebrate Laos’ National Day
VOV.VN - A Vietnamese film week is set to take place in Laos from December 2 to 6 celebrate the 50th anniversary of Laos’ National Day (December 2, 1975 - 2025).
Six Vietnamese films will be screened for free at the Lao National Cultural Hall and Patuxai Square.
The week will kick off with the documentary "President Kaysone Phomvihane with Vietnam", produced by the Central Documentary and Scientific Film Studio. The film chronicles the life and career of President Kaysone Phomvihane and highlights his close and enduring relationship with Vietnam.
The event will also feature "Mưa đỏ" (Red Rain), directed by Dang Thai Huyen, which won the prestigious Golden Lotus Award for Best Feature Film at the 24th Vietnam Film Festival. Another key screening is "Hai người mẹ" (Two Mothers), a moving portrayal of the friendship and sacrifices made by the Vietnamese and Lao people during the Indochina War.
In addition, film enthusiasts will have the chance to enjoy the 2025 Vietnamese action thriller "Tử chiến trên không" (Hijacked), directed by Ham Tran. The programme also includes "Địa đạo - Mặt trời trong bóng tối" (Tunnel: Sun in the Dark) by Bui Thac Chuyen and "Tôi thấy hoa vàng trên cỏ xanh" (Yellow Flowers on the Green Grass) by Victor Vu.
The Vietnamese film week in Laos 2025 is expected to help Lao people understand about the history, culture and people of Vietnam. After a number of screenings, the audience will have the opportunity to interact with the film crew.
