France Year in Vietnam draws to a close

(VOV) - French Ambassador for Foreign Policy and President of the French Institute Xavier Darcos has cited the more than 150 events held during the France Year in Vietnam as his country’s desire to update its image in the eyes of the Southeast Asian country.

At the France Year in Vietnam’s closing ceremony in HCM City’s Reunification Hall on December 13, Darcos said the year of celebration affirms the valuable fruits that can be reaped from effective cooperation between French and Vietnamese partners.

Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Thanh Son said the successful France Year in Vietnam has left a deep impression on the Vietnamese public and highlighted the two countries’ cooperation in politics, economics, science and technology, and education and training.

He said he believes the successful France Year in Vietnam has consolidated the bilateral strategic partnership.

Philippe Bouler’s “Les Allumers D’Image” light and music performances on December 13–14 were widely regarded as appropriately spectacular conclusions to the year-long festival.

The first performance attracted an audience of thousands.
