France publishes book on Dien Bien Phu victory
Armand Colin Publishing House published a 188-page historical novel in February on the Dien Bien Phu victory.
Le Point magazine printed an article on February 15 to introduce the book, written by Pham Thanh Tam, about Vietnam’s victory over the French colonialists.
The magazine said Pham Thanh Tam wrote the book when he was 22, after 7 years as a war journalist. He was a student of Hanoi Art School and did not think to publish the book while writing it.

In the book, Tam explained how Vietnam armed forces defeated the French colonialists.
“There have been thousands of books about the Dien Bien Phu victory, but most of them were written by French veterans and involved their view of failure”, Le Point said.
The book persuaded French readers to understand the Indochina war, as well as France’s failure at Dien Bien Phu, through a Vietnamese writer’s eyes.
