Foreign table-tennis players compete in HCM City
(VOV) - The 26th Golden Racket International Table Tennis Tournament opened in Ho Chi Minh City’s Phan Dinh Phung Gymnasium on October 31.
The event attracted 62 athletes from Hong Kong, China, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, the Republic of Korea, Australia, India, Russia, Japan, the US, Sweden, HCM City and Vietnam.
The players will compete in four events: men’s team, women’s team, men’s singles and women’s singles. The total prize pool is worth up to VND200 million.
In early results, the Ho Chi Minh City team was defeated by Vietnam’s national team, while Hong Kong gained a victory over Malaysia in the men’s team event.
In the women’s team event, HCM City outperformed Malaysia and Thailand but were then defeated by Vietnam’s national team.
The tournament will last through to November 3.
