Foreign films in local cinemas this October
(VOV) - Four recent films representing the Asian, European and American cinematography will be shown in cinemas across Vietnam on October 5.
“Dangerous Liaisons” is a Korean film version of the 1782 French novel “Les Liaisons Dangereuses” by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos, starring Korean actor, Jang Dong Gun, and Chinese actresses, Zhang Zhiyi and Ceceilia Cheung.
“The Concubine” is a new historical film from the Republic of Korea (RoK) set in the Joseon dynasty.
It centers around Hwa-yeon (Jo Yeo-jeong), who enters the royal palace as one of the king’s concubines in order to escape poverty; Kwon-yoo (Kim Min-joon), a man torn between love and revenge; and King Seong-won (Kim Dong-wook), who has his heart set on Hwa-yeon despite the countless other women available to him.
The three characters form a love affair which is ruled by dangerous passion. The struggle to survive within the claustrophobic boundaries of the palace is intense, and only those who are strong enough to overcome the hell-like milieu will make it through.
The American action thriller “Taken 2”, directed by Olivier Megaton and starring Liam Neeson is the sequel to the 2008 film “Taken” and is in stark contrast to the two Asian films.
The film starts off about a year after the events in “Taken”, when, Bryan Mills (Liam Neeson) daughter, Kim (Maggie Grace), and ex-wife, Lenore (Famke Janssen), visit him on a trip to Istanbul. Lenore is kidnapped, Kim runs away and Mills must use all his lethal skills to rescue them and eliminate anyone who is seeking revenge against him.
The charming British film “Street Dance” tells the story of a dancer named Ash and his friend Eddie who are looking for the most talented dancers in Europe to create a group that can defeat a world famous dance troupe. Along the way in Paris, Ash meets and falls in love with a beautiful salsa dancer named Eva.
