Foreign diplomats attend Dao Mau ritual in Vietnam
VOV.VN -An estimated 25 foreign diplomats in Vietnam have attended a Dao Mau (or Mother Goddess) ceremony paying homage to the deities that have power over all natural phenomena – droughts, floods, favourable weather and disasters.
The observance combines artistic aspects – music, singing, dancing, flower arranging, martial arts, sculpture, origami, fashion, and food. It teaches humans to be kind-hearted and friendly.
The ritual began in the 16th century in Vietnam. It has been recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity and is a very popular ceremony attended by thousands annually during the TET (Lunar New Year) holiday.
