Foreign artists' first international concert in Ho Guom Opera House
VOV.VN - Local and foreign artists are set to gather at the first international concert which is scheduled to take place on August 18 at the Ho Guom Opera House to mark the 78th anniversary of the August Revolution, as well as National Day.
Violinist Caroline Campbell began her career at aged eight, with the American set to perform solo with the Reno Philharmonic Orchestra.
She has worked alongside some of the world’s leading artists, such as Sting, Barbra Streisand, Stevie Wonder, and Michael Bublé. In addition, she has performed in many countries, including Malaysia, Australia, and France, with this year marking the first time she has arrived in Vietnam.
At the concert on August 18, Campbell will perform classic soundtracks from hit movies like Titanic, Pirates of the Caribbean, as well as Romeo and Juliet.
The concert will also enjoy the presence of American soprano Corinne Winters who is “an outstanding actress, as well as a singer of extraordinary grace and finesse,” as acclaimed by The New York Times.
She will join with British opera singer Oliver Johnston to recreate timeless opera tunes from world’s famous pieces of works, including Carmen, Das Land des Lächelns, and Neapolitan Song.
Dao To Loan who is the first Vietnamese singer to win the first prize at the Singapore Lyric Opera ASEAN Vocal Competition, will also participate in the concert.
They will co-work with the Sun Symphony Orchestra to perform La Traviata, which is an opera in three acts by Giuseppe Verdi.
Ho Guom Opera, located at 40 - 40A Hang Bai street in Hoan Kiem district, was built by the Ministry of Public Security and the Hanoi People’s Committee from December, 2021, with the site being put into operation on July 9.
The modern and international-level building includes a 900-seat auditorium, a 500-seater space, a facility specifically for exhibitions, an area for conferences and workshops, and a multi-functional zone, among others. It is a venue for political, cultural, and artistic events of the Party, the State, the Ministry of Public Security, and Hanoi, while also serving as an international convention centre.
