Foreign ambassadors celebrate TET in Hanoi
VOV.VN - The new year tree (cây nêu) is part of Vietnamese custom for which a bamboo pole serves as the tree and is decorated with bells to mark the way for the spirits of ancestors to come back from the other world to enjoy TET with the living.
Evil spirits are warded off by the thorns and the tinkling of the bells attached to the tree.
Here’s a short clip of Ambassadors from India, Morocco and Palestine participating with local Vietnamese in making a traditional new year tree at the So Temple at the Quoc Oai District of Hanoi.
