First Japan-Vietnam student football tourney

(VOV) - Sixteen Vietnamese students have been chosen to take part in the first Japan-Vietnam student football cup, which will be held in Okinawa, Japan, in November.

The call for participants was launched one month ago, attracting nearly 400 applications from universities in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

Candidates experienced interviews and football skill tests in both Hanoi and HCM City, and 16 best candidates were selected, including 8 from each city.

The list of the chosen footballers will be announced in HCM City on May 25 and Hanoi on May 26.

The football cup is one of the activities taking place to commemorate 40 years of Vietnam-Japan friendly relations.

The event has been approved by the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training, and supported by Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Chu Tuan Cap and the Vietnam Football Federation.
