First-ever folk song festival held on Vietnam-China border river
VOV.VN - Authorities of Cao Bang province (Vietnam) and Chongzuo city (Guangxi, China) on April 13 jointly organised the first-ever folk song festival on a border river, as part of the 2026 Vietnam–China border residents exchange programme.
The event took place at the Ban Gioc (Vietnam)–Detian (China) waterfall landscape site, where around 30 artists from both countries performed traditional melodies such as Tinh, Ha Leu and Luon.
The performances highlighted national cultural identities while also conveying messages of friendship through songs like A Tour of Vietnam and Vietnam–China Friendship.
Artists also joined group performances and other cultural activities, creating a lively atmosphere for local residents and visitors on both sides of the border.
As the first activity held at the Ban Gioc–Detian landscape site, the festival aims to promote cultural exchange and strengthen ties between border communities under the motto of "Friendly neighborliness, comprehensive cooperation, long-term stability, and future-oriented thinking" and in the spirit of the four "goods" - good neighbours, good friends, good comrades, and good partners that the leaders of the two Parties and States have jointly built.
The event is part of activities linked to the April 14-17 visit to China by a high-level Vietnamese delegation led by Party General Secretary and State President To Lam.
