First ecosystem to protect music copyright on internet debuts
VOV.VN - The Music Copyrights Management Online Joint Stock Company (MCM Online) launched an ecosystem on February 22 as part of efforts to protect music copyright on the internet, the first of its kind in Vietnam.
The ecosystem is set to make use of two solutions: digital rights management (DRM) and watermarking, thereby helping the author to accurately measure the number of usage and track the distribution of pieces of work on the Internet.
DRM utilises technological measures and restricts the playback or duplication of music in order to protect its copyright.
Meanwhile, digital watermarking can be viewed as one solution to prevent copyright infringement where the information signal inserted into the host signal can be either a text, an image, or an audio.
The ecosystem aims to support musicians to authorise protection rights and to manage their pieces of work on the internet. It helps build a warehouse of works with music copyright, and identify all recordings, musical works, audiobooks, and podcasts for each music distributor.
