Film set in Vietnam wins Brazil Oscar
(VOV) -Set along the countryside of northern Vietnam, My Father's Truck, directed by talented director Maurico Osaki, has won the Best Short Film title at the Oscar awards held by the Brazilian Film Academy.
Vietnamese stars cast in the film include Meritorious Artist Trung Anh (as father), and Mai Vy (as daughter).
My Father's Truck is part coming of age part road film revolving around the day when 10-year-old North Vietnamese Mai Vy skips school to help her father with his passenger truck for hire.

It is only outside the classroom her eyes are open to shades of morality as she learns the way things really are in the world.
Mauricio Osaki was born in São Paulo, Brazil, where he started his career directing short films and working in feature projects as assistant editor and post producer at major film companies.
At New York University MFA Program in Film, he completed his short film, I, which premiered at the Berlin Film Festival in 2013 and was short-listed for an Oscar. He is currently developing his first feature film.
