By successfully lifting 103kgs, Phuong left her Indonesian runner-up Khatun Sakina far behind.

In 2016 at the Rio Paralympics, Phuong became the first Vietnamese para athlete to bring home a gold medal at the international event.

Her next target is to bag another gold medal at the 2020 Paralympics before leaving her career as a weightlifter.

As of 6:45pm of October 8, the Vietnamese delegation had won four gold, one silver, and five bronze medals, ranking sixth in the medal tally.

At the previous Asian Para Games in 2014, Vietnam won nine gold, seven silver, and 13 bronze medals, finishing 10th in the overall medal tally.
