Fashion week to showcase Spring, Summer designs
Vietnam Fashion Week kicks off at the Hanoi Daewoo Hotel on December 6, with a taste of 19 collections (600 designs) by veterans and emerging designers to be shown during the week.
“The trend of Spring and Summer 2013 will be gentle and peaceful,” said creator Minh Hanh.
Young designers have made clothes that are highly practical. Design graduate Ta Linh will make his debut with a collection of garments from recycled materials.
Linh said his collection of 15 designs will be mixed and matched at the show.
“The collection has been made over two months,” he said. “I have collected and treated recycled materials for a distinctive look,” Linh said.
“The collection by Linh is very flexible,” Hanh said, “The designs can be used by wearers to match appropriate clothing.”
Linh also spent two years studying at the London College for Fashion Studies in Hanoi.
His collection will be shown on December 8 to close the fashion week.
Others to be paraded this week, include Viet Thang Garments, noted for its design collections for young people, which will show collections by four designs.
And on December 8, a contribution by Spanish designer Diego Cortizas will be featured.
The first Vietnam Fashion Week was held in 1998 and has since become the main annual event for the Vietnamese fashion industry.
