The Berlin-based photographer and historian Nicolaus Schmidt was invited in 2017 by the German Embassy in Hanoi to implement a photo project about German-Vietnamese cooperation.
With support from the German Embassy and the German Consulate General, Nicolaus Schmidt photographed more than 100 people. His photos and interviews were featured in the book “German-Vietnamese Biographies as a Mirror of History”. Nineteen photos from the book were selected to be on display at the exhibition.
“Vietnam and Germany are connected by partnership and friendship since the mid-20th century,” said Thomas Lenferding, head of the Department of Culture, Press and Science of the German Embassy in Hanoi.
The opening ceremony on June 25 was graced by German Ambassador Christian Berger.
