Exhibition educates on island sovereignty
An exhibition on “Maps and document display of Paracel and Spratly Islands – Historical and Legal Evidences” will be held in Thai Binh Province from March 30 to April 3.
A press conference to announce the event was co-organised by Thai Binh City’s Ministry of Information and Communication and the Thai Binh’s People’s Committee.
Accordingly, the upcoming event follows the 51 previous exhibitions which had taken place in 34 cities and provinces, 10 island sites and seven armed force units across the nation.
“The exhibition on Paracel and Spratly Islands is a significant information and communication activity. Its aim to raise the awareness, solidarity and sense of responsibility among Vietnamese citizens, overseas Vietnamese, especially youngsters in protecting and affirming the sovereignty of Vietnam over the Paracel (which were totally and forcibly taken by China in 1974), and the Spratly islands as well through a proclaimed historical document,” Chairman of Thai Binh’s People’s Committee Nguyen Hong Dien said.
Besides, the collection of over 100 maps and other documents, items and publications, which are likely to be displayed at the exhibition, is the result of massive work carried by domestic and foreign researchers and scholars. The exhibition will also feature historical images of stamps on national unification and day of the people’s army celebrations, and the two islands.
The exhibition will be open for the public at 14/10 Square.
