Event to celebrate ASEAN unity opens in Hanoi
(VOV) -A celebration is underway at the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism in Hanoi, with music and dance performances from ethnic groups throughout ASEAN member states acting as symbols of peace and solidarity.
At the opening ceremony on the evening of November 21, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh, who is also ASEAN Secretary General, has affirmed the community is making considerable progress towards realizing the goal of integration by the end of 2015.

In this transitional period, the regional bloc wants to convey a message of – One vision, One identity, One community – to international friends and highlight the ASEAN cultural identity.
Minh’s hope is that ASEAN nations will join hands in reinforcing solidarity and cooperation for peace, stability and prosperity of each ASEAN member state, as well as for common interests of the region and international community.
Officials from ASEAN member countries as well as international organization representatives in Hanoi and numerous local residents and tourists are attending the event.
The celebration taking place from November 21 to 23 has been organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with some foreign embassies.
