Ethnic tourism village invites visitors to enjoy highland market during holiday

VOV.VN - The Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism will introduce a highland market in the capital’s suburban township of Son Tay for the five-day holiday held to mark National Reunification Day on April 30 and International Labour Day on May 1.

The highlight of the event will be a mountainous market which features specialties from the northwest and northeast regions, whilst demonstrations of traditional handicraft making and folk games will also be held.

Folk songs and dances by the Lo Lo, Mong, Tay, Nung, and Dao ethnic people are also expected to impress viewers during the event.

Along with a range of art performances and folk games, visitors to the function will have the chance to sample special dishes from ethnic minority groups such as “rượu cần” (wine drunk out of a jar through pipes) and a horse meat called “thắng cố” which is a traditional dish of the Mong ethnic group in the mountainous northwestern region.
