Entertainment market rebounds as concert ticket sales top 1 million

VOV.VN - Vietnam’s live entertainment and event market is witnessing a strong resurgence following the slowdown caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, with more than 1 million tickets of concerts and music festivals sold out in 2025, according to Ticketbox.

The figure reflects a growing public appetite for in-person cultural and entertainment activities.

Notably, the number only includes tickets distributed via Ticketbox, an online ticketing platform that helps event organisers in Vietnam and South East Asia to sell tickets, and does not account for those sold directly through event organisers’ websites or other channels.

In recent years, Vietnam has gradually positioned itself as an emerging regional destination for international artists, alongside the rapid development of domestic music programmes. Concert series linked to television shows, large-scale outdoor music festivals and major entertainment events have attracted sizeable audiences, particularly young people in major urban centres.

In an interview with Saigon Times Online, Ticketbox said that Vietnam is a potential market thanks to young population, increasingly diverse entertainment demand and a high willingness to spend on large-scale concerts and music events. A stable political and social environment also provides favourable conditions for both domestic and international event organisers.

However, challenges remain, particularly for medium- to large-scale events. Infrastructure constraints persist, with a shortage of large-capacity indoor venues and a limited number of stadiums that meet international standards for hosting major music events.

As a result, many programmes are forced to take place outdoors or rely on temporary stage construction, increasing exposure to weather risks and driving up technical, installation and operational costs.

In addition, strong demand for “hot” shows often leads to rapid sell-outs, giving rise to ticket resales on the secondary market and potential risks for consumers in the absence of official transaction channels, Ticketbox noted.

To address this issue, Ticketbox has introduced a ticket resale feature, acting as an intermediary to protect the interests of all parties and provide audiences with an official and secure platform to transfer tickets when their attendance plans change.
