'Em Tien' chosen to represent Vietnam at Eurovision Song Contest Asia 2026
VOV.VN - ‘Em Tien’ has been selected as the song for singer Toc Tien to represent Vietnam at the Eurovision Song Contest Asia 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand, on November 14.
The song, produced by team S•HUBE, won The Sound of Vietnam selection show on October 3, marking Vietnam’s first entry in the Asian edition of the Eurovision Song Contest.
During the selection show, Toc Tien performed five new songs – Kho Gi, Em Tien, Love Always Wins, a to A and Follow Me. The songs explored different themes, from Vietnamese cultural elements and family memories to images of confident, modern women.
The final result was determined through a combination of votes, with the professional jury and Vietnamese audiences each accounting for 40%, while international audiences accounted for the remaining 20%. Em Tienemerged as the winning song.
Following the selection show, the Eurovision Song Contest and Eurovision Song Contest Asia confirmed Em Tien as Vietnam’s first entry in this year’s competition.
The song blends Vietnamese folk elements with electronic sounds. One of its melodies draws inspiration from the familiar Vietnamese folk and reinterprets it in a contemporary style.
The performance also incorporates Vietnamese cultural imagery including lotus flowers, clouds, birds, the moon and non quai thao (a traditional Vietnamese flat palm hat). The hats are stylised with metallic tassels and combined with costumes, choreography and visual effects to blend traditional elements with contemporary stage design.
Toc Tien said she was proud to represent Vietnam on the international stage. She, team S•HUBE, music director Huy Tuan and the production team will continue refining the music, visuals and performance ahead of the competition in Bangkok.
The Eurovision Song Contest Asia 2026 is scheduled to take place on November 14, with representatives from 11 countries. Audiences will not be allowed to vote for their own country’s entry.
