‘Echoes of a People’ photo exhibition bridges Vietnamese and Israeli cultures

VOV.VN - The exhibition features 32 photographs by three Israeli and Vietnamese artists, honoring the diversity of daily life and cultural connections between the two countries.

To mark the 32nd anniversary of Vietnam–Israel diplomatic relations (July 12, 1993 – July 12, 2025) and the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s diplomatic service (August 28, 1945 – August 28, 2025), the Vietnamese Embassy in Israel has organized a photography exhibition titled “Echoes of a People”, featuring 32 striking black-and-white and color photographs by three Israeli and Vietnamese photographers. The exhibition is taking place from July 11 to 24 at the Vietnamese Embassy headquarters in Tel Aviv.

The showcase includes works by Professor Benjamin Peretz, an honorary professor of dentistry at Tel Aviv University and a veteran photographer with over 60 years behind the lens. His photographs are deeply narrative in nature, conveying keen observations and subtle emotional reflections on people’s everyday lives and the broader social context.

Also featured are works by journalist Le Vu Hoi, former head of the Vietnam News Agency’s bureau in Israel. His photos capture authentic, everyday moments of people and urban life across Israeli cities, taken during his reporting assignments. Meanwhile, Le Thai Hoa, Trade Counselor at the Vietnamese Embassy in Israel, presents images of daily life and landscapes in Israel, many taken during personal excursions that shows his passion for photography.

In his address, Vietnamese Ambassador to Israel Ly Duc Trung said, “This exhibition honors the rich human and cultural tapestry of Israel as seen through the lenses of three photographers from Israel and Vietnam. It also serves as a deeply personal cultural bridge between the peoples of our two countries.” The ambassador emphasized the role of cultural diplomacy in fostering understanding, connection, mutual trust, empathy, and friendship between nations.

The opening ceremony was attended by representatives from Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, scholars, international guests, members of the Israel–Vietnam Friendship Association, the Vietnamese community in Israel, and many photography lovers and friends interested in bilateral ties.

On this occasion, Ambassador Ly Duc Trung presented a Certificate of Second Prize in the mobile phone photo contest “Live fully in Vietnam” to Ms. Daphne, an Israeli tourist who visited Vietnam from March to April 2025. He also gifted national flags to a group of Israeli children passionate about collecting flags from around the world.

This meaningful cultural exchange activity added further depth to the friendly, cooperative ties between Vietnam and Israel, taking place at a time of key anniversaries for both countries. The event became even more special as Ambassador Ly Duc Trung invited guests to enjoy Vietnamese coffee, cuisine, and a variety of lychee originally from Vietnam but now grown successfully in Israel.
