Development Bank sponsors Cambodia Football Cup

(VOV) - A subsidiary of the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) has agreed to contribute US$220,000 in sponsorship to the 2013 Cambodia International Football Tournament.

A document to this effect was signed in Phnom Penh on June 17 between Nguyen Xuan Hien, managing director of the Bank for Investment and Development of Cambodia Plc (BIDC) and General Sao Sokha, Chairman of the Football Federation of Cambodia (FFC).

At the signing ceremony, BIDC CEO Le Dao Nguyen also allocated US$100,000 to buying equipment for Cambodia’s National Football Centre in Bati district, Takeo province.

The BIDC Cup was founded in 2009 on the initiative of BIDV CEO Tran Bac Ha and FFC Chairman Sao Sokha. It then received approval from the Asian Football Confederation.

In 2011, six Mekong sub-region countries—U23 Cambodia, U19 Vietnam, U21 Laos, U21 Myanmar, U21 Thailand, and China’s Wuhan Huangxing FC—competed in the event.

These themes will return for the 2013 tournament, joined by an additional two teams from Japan.
