Denmark supports children’s literature campaign
(VOV) -The Danish Writers Association and Kim Dong Publishing House launched a 2013–2015 Writing for Children campaign in Hanoi on December 17.
The campaign, part of a larger Vietnam-Denmark project supporting Vietnamese children’s literature, hopes to inspire Vietnamese children’s authors and illustrators as well as creativity within the genre more broadly.
Addressing the launch ceremony, Danish Ambassador to Vietnam John Nielsen highlighted the importance of books and comics to childhood development and creativity.
The Danish Writers Association has supported children's literature in Vietnam since 2006. Its program includes author and illustrator seminars and children’s reading clubs.
Nielsen said he hopes the campaign will extend its impressive record of achievements and continue guiding and encouraging the reading habits of Vietnamese children.
This year’s campaign is designed for Vietnamese language authors, illustrators, and readers living in Vietnam and abroad.
The organising board will accept submissions from December 17, 2013 to April 30, 2015.
The awards ceremony is scheduled for the middle of November, 2015.
