Denmark In Your Eyes 2023 painting competition launched

VOV.VN - The annual Denmark in Your Eyes 2023 painting competition was officially launched on September 29 at Nguyen Sieu school in Hanoi.

The event attracted the participation of representatives of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO), the Vietnam Denmark Friendship Association, the Ministry of Education and Training, the Embassy of Denmark, along with hundreds of teachers and students from local primary and secondary schools in Hanoi and neighbouring provinces.

Under the theme of ‘Green Future’, the painting competition is part of activities being held to celebrate the 10th year anniversary of signing the Comprehensive Partnership Agreement between Vietnam and Denmark.

This represents a major milestone as the agreement elevated the bilateral relationship from that of traditional development co-operation to a full-fledged partnership encompassing political dialogue, green growth, energy, trade, investment, and culture.

The competition is open to all local students, from both primary and secondary schools. The deadline for submission is November 30, with the winners announced and awarded at a ceremony at the end of the school year 2023 to 2024 in Hanoi.

At the launching ceremony, Danish Ambassador to Vietnam Nicolai Prytz said, “I am both honored and excited to attend the launching of the Denmark in Your Eyes painting competition, which in my opinion, has added a lot of values to the strengthening of our two countries’ long-term co-operation on promoting green and sustainable development. I am also very impressed with the number of more than 18,000 paintings submitted in the last competition, which shows the high popularity of the competition among schoolchildren all over Vietnam. I believe that the competition is an amazing playground for Vietnamese children, not only to express wishes about their future, but more importantly to come up with creative ideas about how we can together create a green future and make our planet a prosperous and sustainable home for the well-being of all.”

In the competition schoolchildren are encouraged to unfold and develop their imagination through creativity and bring their dreams of a Green Future onto papers through various themes, such as environment protection, biodiversity, energy efficiency, green energy, reduction of CO2 emissions, waste management, and climate change.

The jury board of the competition will consist of several prestigious painters from Kim Dong Publishing House and Thieu Nien Tien Phong and Nhi Dong newspaper and representatives from the Danish Embassy and the Vietnam Denmark Friendship Association.

The Denmark In Your Eyes 2023 painting competition is co-hosted by the Embassy of Denmark and the Vietnam Denmark Friendship Association, with valuable support offered by partners such as the Ministry of Education and Training, Kim Dong Publishing House, Thieu Nien Tien Phong, and Nhi Dong newspaper.

JYSK, a Danish Furniture Retail Chain, is the main sponsor of the function, while LEGO Vietnam is a valued supporter of the competition.
