Under a plan recently issued by the Da Nang municipal People’s Committee, the festival is a cultural, economic and tourism event aimed at promoting Ngoc Linh ginseng, a rare medicinal herb known as Vietnam’s “national treasure”, along with other valuable medicinal herbs, while expanding cooperation in medicinal herbs, medicine, healthcare and tourism.

The opening ceremony is scheduled for the evening of August 1 under the theme “Ngoc Linh Ginseng - The Essence of World Medicinal Herbs”. Earlier, a worship ceremony dedicated to the Ginseng God and a programme to distribute Ngoc Linh ginseng seedlings will be planned on July 31 at the Ngoc Linh Ginseng Temple in Kon Pin village, Tra Linh commune.

During the festival, organisers will host exhibition and interactive spaces featuring Ngoc Linh ginseng and medicinal herbs, alongside displays of domestic and international ginseng varieties and products made from ginseng and medicinal herbs, including functional foods, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals.

It will also feature a Ngoc Linh ginseng competition and a ginseng auction to raise funds for preserving ginseng-growing areas, supporting community development and providing scholarships for students in mountainous areas. Organisers are also expected to launch “Ngoc Linh Ginseng Day”, proposed to be observed annually on August 3 in connection with the festival.

Other activities will include culinary and tourism experiences such as tours exploring Ngoc Linh ginseng-growing areas, the “Flavours of the Great Forest” culinary space and the “Million Steps to the Land of Ngoc Linh Ginseng” running event.

The festival will also include an international scientific conference on Ngoc Linh ginseng and medicinal herbs, along with golf and pickleball tournaments scheduled to take place in Da Nang.

Sixth Ngoc Linh ginseng festival to be held in Quang Nam
